Wash the vase thoroughly using a detergent such as dishwashing detergent.
Fill the vase two-thirds full with fresh, cold water and add the flower food.
Free the flowers from their packaging.
Remove any leaves that will be under the water to avoid bacteria quickly contaminating the water.
Cut about 2cm off the bottom of the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife, or garden shears.
Change the water regularly, every two days or every day.
